Team Leaders and Assistant Team Leaders June 2012


World Youth International (WYI) is looking for several dedicated volunteers to lead our Overseas Action Programs to Peru and Kenya, commencing in June 2012. The Team Leader will play a key role in managing a team of 6 - 12 volunteers and implementing several community development projects. This is an excellent opportunity to have a hands-on role in creating positive change globally and facilitating a life-changing experience for a team of volunteers.

The position requires a responsible, mature candidate who is resilient, flexible and professional in their dealings with others. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must, as well as demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring a group. The candidate must be a team player, have strong motivational skills and be able to work with limited supervision.

We are currently recruiting for the following roles and programs:

TEAM LEADERS
- Peru: June 19, 2012 - August 30, 2012 (Spanish language skills essential)
- Kenya: June 17, 2012 - August 26, 2012

ASSISTANT TEAM LEADERS
- Peru: June 19, 2012 - August 30, 2012 (Spanish language skills essential)
- Kenya: June 17, 2012 - July 22, 2012

Team Leaders and Assistants will be required to arrive in country approximately seven days prior to the program start-date. They must also remain in country for several days after the program has completed.

For Team Leaders, all expenses are covered by WYI, including flights, in-country costs and travel insurance. For Assistant Team Leaders, WYI will cover all in-country expenses, but the Assistant is required to fund their own airfares, travel insurance and other pre-departure costs.

Team Leaders and Assistants will be required to undergo an intensive two-month training program prior to their departure. This will consist of seven weekly phone training sessions (held on Thursday evenings from March 22), homework tasks and a final two-day training session in Adelaide on May 8 - 9, 2012. Team Leaders and Assistants will then be required to attend the Personal Empowerment Program immediately following the training, on May 11 - 14. This equates to one full week in Adelaide from the evening of May 7 until May 14, 2012. Attendance is compulsory and all food, accommodation and travel expenses will be covered.

We will consider international applicants, however they must be able to participate in the two-day Team Leader training and Personal Empowerment Program in Adelaide prior to departure. WYI will only cover domestic flight costs to attend this training, so international applicants must be willing to fund their own trip to Adelaide for this training period.
