An update from Alison Wells, Step Out Australia National Coordinator Hello everyone! It seems event season is upon us! Step Out teams across the country are in the midst of event preparation! I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of our Step Out teams for their incredible efforts. The people responsible for creating such amazing things are the most talented, exciting, inspiring bunch of people I know and I am so proud of each and every single one of you for everything you have achieved so far. Keep reading below to check out what each state is up to. I encourage
everyone in WA, QLD, Vic and NSW to get along to your local event and
support not only WYI but also an incredible group of people.

Step Out VIC are proud to present their 'Party against Poverty!'

When: Sunday, October 17th, 6.30pm Where: Ding Dong Lounge, 16 Market Lane, Chinatown, Melbourne
What: Step Out Victoria's very first live music fundraiser, featuring:
Laura Imbruglia Seagull (Triple J unearthed winner '08) ...The Box Rockets The Parking Lot Experiments The Bombastics Jackson Vietch DJ Edd Fisher
As well as raffles and prizes galore and good times all around!
Why? Funds raised will go towards WYI's amazing 7 year project plan, which involves an Early Childhood Development Centre, A Child Rescue Unit, Multi Educational Training Centre for vocational youth training, Health Facilities, and a Community Centre in Kenya.
How much? $25 for adults, $20 concession

Step Out NSW will be 'Cruising for a Cause' for the second year in a row! 
When: Saturday, October 30th, 7.30pm
Where: King's Street Wharf (in front of Wildlife World) What: Join Step Out NSW for a night of terror, cruising the formidable seas of Sydney Harbour. In your most frightening attire and onboard the Ship Scare, prepare for a night of horror! Why? Funds raised will go towards This Life Cambodia's Lower Secondary School Development Program in conjunction with WYI. At present, only 26.1% of Cambodian children reach lower secondary school; by Cruising for a Cause you could help raise this number! Step Out QLD invite you to Brisbane for 'A Nightmare on Ann St'
When: Sunday, October 31, 7.00pm
Where: X & Y Bar, 648 Ann Street, Fortitude Valley
What: Step Out QLD's first fundraising event is a Halloween themed party to end all parties. Featuring local Brisbane bands, guest are asked to come along in their most wiCked Halloween get-up. With raffle-prizes and a best dressed competition (with a chance to win a $150 x&y tab) on offer, get down to Ann Street for a night of Halloween fun!
Why? Funds raised from Step Out QLD's event will go towards sustainable development projects in Peru. Our November Overseas Action Program participants will use these funds to contribute to their chosen projects. Previous projects in Peru have included the building of a sewing centre for local women, and a reconstruction project in the earthquake ravaged village of Pisco. How much? $15 presale or $60 for 5 tickets. Presale tickets are available until October 28, however, if available tickets will be $20 at the door.

When: Saturday, November 6, 6.30pm
Where: ECU Lawn Bowls Club, Stancliffe St, Mt Lawley What: An amazing African themed trivia night, filled with mini games, a silent auction, music, some food and drink and an incredible performance from African dancer's, this is a night not to be missed! Why? With an African theme it could only be going one place - Kenya! Funds raised by Step Out WA will go towards WYI's amazing 7 year project plan, which involves an Early Childhood Development Centre, A Child Rescue Unit, Multi Educational Training Centre for vocational youth training, Health Facilities, and a Community Centre for a village called Odede, in Western Kenya.
