World Youth International (WYI) is making a real difference and you can help! Our catalogue offers you the opportunity to make a practical contribution, and create a brighter future for people living in severe poverty. WYI is a South Australian based charity operating since 1988 which specialises in community development projects and short-term overseas volunteer programs, impacting the lives of thousands of people in Australia and overseas each year. WYI is committed to reducing poverty and injustice, and strengthening communities through sustainable development projects. WYI's major community infrastructure projects include the building, ongoing development and support of schools and children's homes (orphanages) in Kenya and Nepal. The WYI School in Nepal was established in 1999 and is attended by almost 500 students ranging from Reception to Year 10. The Sapana Dreaming Children's Home was built adjacent to the school in 2001 and together with the Owiti Children's Home in Kenya, built in 2004, provide orphaned children with a loving home, health care and an education. WYI is a non profit, non religious and non political organisation, approved by AusAID, signatory to the Australian Council for International Development (ACFID) and also has DGR status for tax deductibility with The Australian Taxation Office. Items in the WYI Gift Catalogue address critical needs in areas including health, education and income generation. They are distributed under the guidance of our in-country staff/partner organisations and Australian volunteers on WYI's overseas programs. This offers volunteers a fabulous opportunity to participate in sustainable projects and cultural exchange. How it works ... On receipt of your order, we will send you a gift card for each item purchased. The cards include an explanation of your chosen gift, but no pricing details. These cards may be given to your chosen recipient in place of a present, and reflect the life-saving gifts you have selected on their behalf. You will also receive a letter of acknowledgement and a tax deductible receipt, as all catalogue gifts (and donations over $2) are tax deductible.
