Volunteer in Nepal

Between China and India, in the midst of the magnificent Himalayas, lies a country rich with history and culture. Nepal plays host to eight of the world's tallest peaks and a wide range of landscape and vegetation from subtropical jungle to mountainous regions. In a testament to the nature of the Nepali people, Buddhism and Hinduism exist harmoniously together, and the result is some of the most welcoming and friendly people in the world. Although the beauty, culture and spiritual heritage is prosperous, Nepal faces harsh developmental problems. With a lack of means to export its limited natural resources and a tumultuous political history, Nepal is an economically and politically disadvantaged country. A large proportion of the population lives in poverty despite the ingenuity of the Nepalese people.

Overseas Service Project Nepal

The OSP is for any age over 18, and WYI will work with you to create an individual volunteer placement in Nepal. You can travel for between 1 and 5 months, and the departure dates are flexible. There are many placement options you can choose from, in the following areas:

OSP professional placements - As a trained professional, you can really use your skills to make a difference in a developing country, and the experience is invaluable.

OSP teaching placements - If you are a qualified teacher, we can place you straight into a hands-on role. We also accept non qualified teachers for this program and we provide you with a TESOL training program.

OSP general placements - If you would like to make a meaningful contribution in a developing country, but you are not exactly sure how, then this placement is for you. There are many different placement options available including orphanage support, street children programs, health and sanitation projects, education, and support for community and women's groups.

What else do I need to know?
